Barnacle Fence

I don’t think those are barnacles – just some kind of dried-up moss, but I thought the scene resembled the weathered look of an old sea ship.

This is at a cemetery next to an interesting Catholic church. St. Joseph Parish and School in Mogadore, Ohio. It’s a rather beautiful place with an amazing outdoor area that includes a Grotto, waterfall and other features. I took some photos, but would like to make another trip out there sometime soon.

Another shot taken at Wingfoot Lake State Park near Suffield, Ohio – home of the Goodyear Blimp!

This guy was seemingly growing out of a tiny corner above a steep bank between the water and a pavilion. This white picket fence had a lot of character and I loved how this more basic shot came out. I played for a long time with other shots and lighting to try to go for something more unique and “awe-inspiring”, but in the end I think I was just trying to hard. This simpler shot is the right shot – I think.

I’ve been trying to stay aware of when I might be trying too hard as I grow in my photography. It’s still such a personal thing for me, but I also realize the more I do it, the more I go out with other people, deal with time-frames and other limitations. I want to keep everything in balance.

Amber Fence

Out somewhere (I’m not even sure, exactly) in Summit County, Ohio, was this amazing fence with amazing posts holding up rusted and bent chainlink fencing. I caught this in the evening light, and it lit the scene up a beautiful amber tone. I love fences, taking pictures of fences and this just might be my new, personal favorite!

I almost skipped taking photos of it – I’m not sure why(I don’t choose to photo every fence I see). I was actually at this spot to photograph a crumbling, old, wooden structure, but at the last second went back to snap this. I’m so glad I did.

Evening Garden

This was at Price Park in North Canton, Ohio. This is actually where a resident’s backyard meets the park grounds.

It’s a lovely little park that is always very well maintained. It has two distinct areas with a walking path running the length of both and separated by a little bridge over a creek. The are I took this I call the “back area” – mostly a flat green, dotted with trees and the walking patch looping around with some residential houses nearby.

Whoever lives here has some terrific flowers and this fence/gateway in their backyard that comes right up next to part of the park’s walking patch. It’s a little magical, like a Secret Garden.
