“Stone Vine”

I got to pay a brief visit to a friend’s house while on a trip to Pennsylvania. It was unplanned and I arrived shortly before they got home.

So. I meandered through the backyard snapping photos and caught this little guy crawling its way across one of the stones making up a sidewalk.

It just reminding me how nature will grab on and take back an area.

Flowering Step

I owe my Cousin for spotting this little scene on some wooden steps in Wingfoot Lake Park, in Ohio.

I was so happy to break out my 18-55mm lens after having it sit in my camera bag forever more. It’s been a long time since I used it, but I’m still really happy to have it. I can pull out subtle and focus blur that I just love playing with.

Purple Flower

This reminds me of a line in a song I really like, “A purple flower came to visit me and landed on my window.” by a rock band called Undercover, on their album Devotion.

This photograph is slightly older. I took this at Quail Hollow in Hartville, Ohio. I also used my awesome Tamron 90mm Macro. I love that macro lens. I saw they made a newer version of it that includes a silent motor housing or technology and image stabilization! Wow!

I’d love to get that new version. It’s so very very hard to get crisp photos from a macro lens without stabilization.

Three Sprouts

I may have to start mixing-up the posting order of my photos, but my latest trip to The Gorge – Metro Parks in Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio(USA) was the bulk of my journeys for the last two weeks.

I am planning some other excursions and trying to get in some other photos of architecture and people soon. There’s some interesting looking sites South of me for historical buildings and locations.

Mossy Log

I think this photo is interesting because of the clear band of focus cutting through the middle. It’s a definitive area of focus and depth of field. In some ways, I would have like to try getting less blur in the foreground or bringing a larger area into focus, but I wanted that moss just so!

In actuality – if I could redo this shot, I might just pull back a bit and close the aperture some.

If you’re interested in seeing where the last handful of my photos came from, you can visit the Summit Metro Parks website for The Gorge. Specifically, I was on the Glens and Gorge trails. I will definitely be going back to scope out the Highbridge trail and returning in Fall and Winter to get different scenery.

Gorge on Nature

So. This is it! My new favorite photo! Yep. I am so happy with this photo. My personal favorite photograph that I’ve ever taken, to date.

Like my other recent photographs, this one was taken at Cuyahoga Falls, The Gorge Metro Park in Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio(USA).

There’s a tiny, wooden bridge that takes you right over this scene on the lower trail at The Gorge, on the return trip.

I’m tempted to try a large print of this and frame it for my mother. 🙂
