I owe my Cousin for spotting this little scene on some wooden steps in Wingfoot Lake Park, in Ohio.

I was so happy to break out my 18-55mm lens after having it sit in my camera bag forever more. It’s been a long time since I used it, but I’m still really happy to have it. I can pull out subtle and focus blur that I just love playing with.

So. This is it! My new favorite photo! Yep. I am so happy with this photo. My personal favorite photograph that I’ve ever taken, to date.

Like my other recent photographs, this one was taken at Cuyahoga Falls, The Gorge Metro Park in Cuyahoga Falls, Summit County, Ohio(USA).

There’s a tiny, wooden bridge that takes you right over this scene on the lower trail at The Gorge, on the return trip.

I’m tempted to try a large print of this and frame it for my mother. 🙂

Zen Some

I was deep into the upper portion of The Gorge trail in Cuyahoga Falls’ Metro Park, when I came upon some rocks and fallen trees covered in moss.

This one, tiny scene stood out in my mind. It looks as though someone may have stacked the rocks – maybe they had the same thought I had from looking at it?

I would have much preferred using something to stabilize myself, but with the lens I had, the distance to the subject and the other conditions of the trail would have meant a rather long setup time without 100% insurance that I’d still get what I wanted.

I ended up kneeling on the rocks and dirt, scrunching myself up into a ball, twisting my head and trying to shake as little as possible.

Rock Path

I love focus, blur and Bokeh. I love to get close to things as well. I love picking on detail or parts of things – whether that be goggles wrapped around someones hat, their painted nails, shoes or the wheel of a car, I love details like that.

My favorite aspect of this is how the light fades toward the background. This is a tiny rock path along a bike trail at Quail Hollow in Ohio.

The path runs all around through the woods, but there are places where the sun peeks through and this was one such spot.

It created a nice gradient from light to dark that I love. I also decided I like the grass that really pops with bright vividness. I love how it contrasts with the browns!
